Silk represents a world of beauty, delight and dreaming. It is a precious, soft-touch material, warm and breezy at the same time.Pure silk materials need to be maintained through dry clean only. Special precautions are to be taken with dark-colored or printed silk and, even the smallest stain needs to be instantly removed through a dry cleaning process.
However, some shirts or types of underwear, which are entirely made of silk or of a mixture containing mainly silk, can be washed under certain conditions: they should never be water soaked, washed in a washing machine or boiled. They can only be washed manually, using warm water (no warmer than 30 degrees) and a special detergent for fragile materials. They need to be well rinsed and you can even complete the last rinse by adding a few drops of white vinegar for refreshing the colors.
The silk and silk mixture materials need to be ironed while still a little wet, after having set the iron on the “silk” mode. No steam and sprinkled water are to be used.
